ISF students studying at the illustrious Notre Dame Sixth Form College campus are taking a well-earned break after a successful first year of the course. The course, supported by First Step Training, provides an unprecedented level of vocational study for industry-standard skills and experience.
Despite pandemic restrictions putting face-to-face learning on hold for a period, 50% of the current cohort are working at the Distinction level, and the other 50% are at the Merit level. For Alexei, a student seeking his Level 3 diploma, the course has revealed a real passion for the sector, with exposure to new practical skills and engagement with others, being highlights of his experience.
During the past year, ISF students have taken advantage of a mixture of theory and practical lessons, in their state-of-the-art facilities in Sheffield. Owing to the qualifications’ onus on work experience, this summer will help them gain some new coaching skills. Many of the students will benefit from working with our employment partner in Sheffield, Links School Sports Partnership, this summer.
The next year will bring further challenges for the students, with the course exploring further the principles and practicalities of working in the sports and activities industry. We are looking forward to seeing what this group bring in the new academic year!
Look out for our new location opening in Durham at the Hermitage Academy, coming soon. For more information on how to become a facilitator for this course, get in touch with the team now.
