For kids, the summer holidays come as a welcome break, but for parents, the work has just begun. With all the disruption to the school year, your children are at risk from “unhealthy summers”, lacking activity and engagement. Reduced income to cope with childcare needs and propped in front of the television for the summer can cut their fitness and wellbeing levels by 18 times the rate of an active summer.
Next week, with the help of UK government subsidisation, we’ll be offering Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) camps across Hull, East Riding and North Lincolnshire. For families who are in receipt of free school meals or on income-related benefits, places will be available, free of charge. Part of an initiative to combat inactivity during the holidays, it will get children active, healthy, and social this summer.
We’ll be offering a range of organised activities and healthy nutrition at sessions for your children to bring home too. Best of all, when children are involved in food preparation, they’re more likely to eat the fruits of their labour and be more helpful at home!
Activities will be running across the 6 weeks with anything from the traditional, such as tennis, football, netball, and athletics to opportunities, to sing, dance and cheerlead with our team of professional coaches. Look out for our special event days too, with bouncy castles and opportunities to challenge the coaches!
You can start here for bookings from Monday 26th July in Hull, East Riding & North Lincolnshire.
For families who are not currently in receipt of free school meals wanting to attend one of the Hull sites, please contact the team for availability as we’d like to have as many children involved as possible!
