The Department for Education has now confirmed that the PE and Sport Premium will continue to support physical activity and PE into the new academic year. In addition to the 320m grant, 10.1 million will be invested into sports facilities and swimming pools. The announcement was welcomed by dozens of sports and activities organisations who had written an open letter to Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, in support of the grant.
With the spotlight now on health, activity and wellbeing for pupils’, across the country, schools will need that extra support if they are to meet their physical activity targets. Whilst information as to the parameters of using the underspend has yet to be released, extending, supporting and developing physical activity are sure to be of paramount importance.
