Chiltern Primary leads Hull in Walk to School Challenge

Chiltern Primary School has become the first school in Hull to participate in the “WOW – Walk to School Challenge” organised by Living Streets. As part of the Modeshift initiative, Chiltern used active travel methods like walking, wheeling, cycling or scooting to get to school, as part of their Modeshift Travel Plan.

As part of the International Walk to School Month in October, pupils recorded their daily active travel methods using the WOW Travel Tracker. Chiltern is now working towards a Very Good Travel Plan with Modeshift, successfully embedding active travel into their schools’ ecosystem.

At First Step Cycle, we’re committed to helping schools like yours achieve their active travel goals. From increasing pupils’ confidence and road safety skills with Bikeability training to supporting your Modeshift Travel Plan, we’re here to help.

With the decline in walking to school from 70% to around 50%, despite most journeys being less than a mile, it’s time to step into a future of safer, more active journeys. Together, we can improve road safety, air quality, and pupil wellbeing.

Join Chiltern Primary School and First Step Cycle, and get your school walking, wheeling, cycling and scooting. Check out our Bikeability training today!
