New figures from The Bikeability Trust reveal that a record 560,471 children in England participated in Bikeability cycle training between April 2023 and March 2024, bringing the total number of trained children since the programme began in 2007 to over 5 million.
This initiative addresses childhood physical inactivity, obesity, and mental health issues while equipping children with essential life skills, enhancing road safety, and promoting cycling as a transport choice.
The Chief Executive of The Bikeability Trust, Emily Cherry, emphasised the importance of continuing to support cycling education, stating the goal is to ensure that no child leaves school without the skills and confidence to cycle.
At First Step Cycle, we are experts in providing Bikebility training. Not only do we create confident pupils, but more than 64,000 of those children have been instructed in the Yorkshire & Humber region. We provide peace of mind for parents and children, with 90% of children who can now predict and avoid risks on the road.
